About
Born on June 3, 1985, in Juarez, Mexico,
Escalante was brought to the United States at the age of
nine by his mother, who had high hopes and dreams for a
better future for her children.
At the age of 15, Antonio started going to the local boxing
gym in El Paso, Texas, but his ambitions didn’t go any
further than just having fun in his new hobby. But after
working out every day, Escalante soon learned that he had
the power and talent to box on a more serious level. And
though he was not allowed to fight in the Junior Olympics
because of his nationality, he was allowed in the Golden
Gloves, where he soon became a two-time champion.
